Global Product Code: 001A0931

Application:

Shell Omala Oil F 460 is a premium-quality, lead-free industrial gear oil formulated for high-performance lubrication of heavy-duty gear systems. It is ideal for steel gear transmissions, bearings, and splash or circulation-lubricated gearboxes operating under high loads and elevated temperatures. This product is not suitable for use in automotive hypoid gears or systems with fine filtration (<10 microns).

Performance Features & Benefits:

  • Superior Load-Carrying Capacity: Performs better than leaded oils in EP testing, with gear and bearing wear significantly reduced under extreme pressure conditions.
  • Micro-Pitting Resistance: Passes FVA-54/II grey staining test at load stage 10 (90 °C), preventing early surface fatigue.
  • Thermal & Oxidative Stability: Provides extended oil life and sludge resistance at operating temperatures up to 100 °C.
  • Corrosion Protection: Effectively protects both steel and bronze components—even in water-contaminated environments.
  • Water Shedding Properties: Excellent demulsibility allows easy removal of water from systems, reducing wear and corrosion risks.
  • Health-Conscious & Lead-Free: Safer for operators and more environmentally responsible than traditional leaded gear oils.

Main Application Areas:

  • Heavily loaded steel gear transmissions
  • Industrial gear drives requiring full EP performance
  • Bearings in circulating and splash-lubricated systems

Specifications & Approvals:

  • FZG Gear Machine A/8.3/90 and A/16.6/90: Load Stage >12
  • Four Ball EP Test (Initial seizure load): 250 kg
  • Timken OK Load: 60 lbs
  • FVA-54/II Micro-Pitting Test: Load stage 10 at 90 °C
