Why Pickle?

To ensure corrosion resistance, stainless steel surfaces must be perfectly clean and free from welding discoloration, machining residues, rust, or embedded particles. Pickling is a chemical process that removes these impurities and prepares the surface for forming a uniform passive layer. Depending on the application and size of the component, different pickling products and methods are used in practice.

Why Passivate?

After pickling, stainless steel surfaces are temporarily inactive and require time to naturally react with oxygen to form a protective layer—this can take several days. During this period, the material is vulnerable to new contamination and corrosion. To speed up the formation of this protective passive film, applying a passivation solution is recommended—it ensures complete and uniform protection within just a few hours.
