Application:

Shell Spirax S5 CFD M 60 is a high-performance dedicated final drive and axle oil developed for off-highway vehicles operating under extreme conditions. It offers enhanced protection for bevel gears, differentials, final drives, and axles, meeting Caterpillar FD-1 final drive axle oil (FDAO) specification. This product is suitable for applications requiring continuous use in severe ambient environments.

• Enhanced Gear & Bearing Life: Proven to extend gear and bearing life in laboratory testing, including superior performance against contact fatigue.
• Superior Corrosion Protection: Provides robust protection against rust and copper corrosion; contains advanced inhibitors to prevent oxidation and deposit formation, safeguarding both ferrous and non-ferrous components.
• Extended Oil Drain Intervals: Very low oxidation rate allows extended oil drain intervals—up to 4000 hours in off-highway trucks, significantly longer than conventional final drive oils (subject to OEM recommendations).
• Foam Control: Suppresses foaming for stable, efficient operation.

Main Application Areas:

• Off-highway final drives and axles requiring Caterpillar FD-1 specification oils
• Transmissions requiring TO-4 fluids without friction materials (only where suitable)

Important Notes:

• Not recommended for final drives containing wet brakes or for engines, hydraulic systems, or transmissions with friction materials. Use Shell Spirax S4 CX oils for such systems.
